Accessibility Statement
Last updated Oct 14, 2026
If anything on xhealthnetwork is hard for you to use, tell us and we will fix it — and in the meantime we will get you the information another way.
[email protected] — we reply within 2 business days.
1. Our commitment
We aim to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We do not claim full conformance today — we claim we are working toward it, we know where the gaps are, and we publish them (§4).
Why we name the gaps rather than claiming conformance. A statement claiming full WCAG conformance that turns out to be wrong is worse than one that is honest about the work remaining. This page is written to be true.
2. What we have done
- Semantic HTML with proper landmarks, heading order and a skip link.
- Keyboard navigation throughout, with a visible focus indicator.
- Text contrast meeting 4.5:1 for body copy and 3:1 for large text and interface elements.
- Alt text on images that carry meaning; decorative images marked as decorative.
- Form fields with real labels, not placeholder text doing a label's job.
- Page zoom to 200% without loss of content or function.
- Responsive layout that works at 320 CSS pixels wide without horizontal scrolling.
- Tables with proper headers, so a screen reader announces the column.
- No content that flashes more than three times per second.
- Language declared on every page.
- Charts and data visualisations accompanied by the underlying figures in a table, so the information is not locked in an image.
3. Known limitations
| Issue | Status |
|---|---|
| Some older podcast episodes lack transcripts | Being added. Ask and we will produce one within 5 business days |
| Some older PDF reports are not fully tagged for screen readers | Being remediated. Ask for an accessible version and we will send one |
| Vendor-supplied logos and images may lack useful alt text | We add it where we can; vendors are asked to supply it |
| Embedded third-party players may not meet AA in their own controls | Outside our code. We are reviewing alternatives |
| Complex interactive ranking tables | Keyboard accessible; screen-reader experience under improvement. A plain data table is available for every ranking |
This list is updated as we fix things and as we find more. If something is missing from it, that is because we have not found it yet — please tell us.
4. How we test
- Automated checks on every release.
- Manual keyboard-only testing of key journeys — reading an article, subscribing, searching, using a ranking table.
- Screen reader testing with NVDA and VoiceOver.
- Contrast checked against the design tokens, not spot-checked by eye.
- Automated tools catch perhaps a third of real problems. The rest comes from manual testing and from readers telling us.
5. Telling us about a barrier
Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. Your assistive technology and browser help but are not required — do not let not knowing them stop you writing.
| What we do | When |
|---|---|
| Acknowledge | 2 business days |
| Give you the content another way — a transcript, a plain-text version, a readable table, or an email with the information in it | 5 business days, often sooner |
| Tell you whether and when we can fix the underlying issue | 10 business days |
| Add it to the known limitations list (§3) | At the same time |
The alternative-format commitment is the one that matters. A fix may take weeks. Getting you the information should take days, and we treat that as the obligation — not the ticket.
6. Standards we work to
WCAG 2.1 Level AA is our technical target. We also design with Section 508 and the ADA in mind because most of our readers are American, and with India's Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and the GIGW guidelines because we are an Indian publisher.
7. Third-party content
Some content comes from others — embedded players, vendor-supplied material, linked documents. We cannot control their accessibility, but we will still get you the information under §5. Tell us and we will transcribe, describe or extract it.
