Editorial Standards
Last updated Oct 14, 2026
xhealthnetwork covers the business of American healthcare. We are published by Caresoft Systems Private Limited, Mumbai, India. The Corrections Policy is a separate page.
Where we report from, and why it matters.
We write about US healthcare from India. We have no relationships with American health systems, payers or vendors to protect — no board seats, no advisory roles, no conference circuit to stay welcome on.
The cost of that distance is that we cannot drop into a hospital unannounced. So we compensate with documents: filings, earnings calls, court records, regulatory databases, on-record interviews. Everything we publish should be traceable to something you can check yourself.
1. What we publish
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| News | Reported fact. Sourced, verified, written without a position |
| Analysis | Reported fact plus our reading of what it means. Clearly reasoned, clearly labeled |
| Opinion | An argument. Labeled as opinion, with the author named |
| Interview | On-record conversation, edited for length and clarity only. We say when it has been edited |
| Rankings | Editorial opinion built on a published methodology. Not certification |
| Reports | Research with stated method, sample and limitations |
| Sponsored | Paid. Not written by the newsroom. See the Advertising Disclosure |
These labels appear on every piece, before the headline. If you cannot tell which you are reading, that is our failure — tell us.
2. Sourcing
- Primary documents first. SEC filings, Form 990s, CMS data, FDA databases, court dockets, state filings, earnings transcripts. We link to the source wherever we can.
- We do not report from a single anonymous source. A claim material to a story needs corroboration — a second source, a document, or an on-record confirmation.
- We say where information came from unless there is a specific reason not to, and then we say why: "according to two people familiar with the negotiations, who asked not to be named because the talks are confidential."
- We do not accept anonymity for an attack. If someone wants to criticise a named person or company, they go on record or we find someone who will.
- We do not aggregate another outlet's scoop and present it as ours. We credit and link.
- Press releases are a starting point, never a story. We do not publish a release as news.
3. Verification
- Every number is checked against its source before publication, not against another article that cited it.
- Quotes are checked against recordings or contemporaneous notes.
- We do not use a figure we cannot trace. If the only source for "$X billion market" is a vendor's own press release, we say so or we leave it out.
- Where data is self-reported, we label it as self-reported.
- Where we are uncertain, we say we are uncertain. "We could not verify" is a legitimate sentence and better than a confident error.
4. Right of reply
Any person or organization facing criticism in an xhealthnetwork story gets a real opportunity to respond before publication.
- We put the substance of what we intend to report to them — not a vague "we're writing about you".
- We give a reasonable deadline, normally no less than 24 hours, and longer where the matter is complex.
- We publish the response, fairly summarised or quoted. Where someone declines to comment, we say so.
- We do not use "declined to comment" to imply guilt.
- If a response changes the facts, we change the story — before publication, not after.
- A refusal to answer does not stop publication, but it is recorded.
5. Fairness
- We report what the evidence shows, including when it cuts against the story we expected to write.
- We do not run a story because it is popular, and do not hold one because it is inconvenient.
- We are careful with people who are not public figures. A junior employee named in a filing is not fair game the way a CEO is.
- We distinguish between an allegation and a finding, and between a charge and a conviction.
- Headlines must be supported by the story. We do not write a headline the article cannot carry.
6. Conflicts of interest
Caresoft Systems Private Limited, our publisher, sells healthcare software — primarily in India and other markets outside the United States.
- Where we cover a company that competes with, partners with, or is a customer of Caresoft, we disclose it in the story itself — not only here.
- Caresoft's commercial interests do not determine what xhealthnetwork covers, and Caresoft's sales team has no editorial input.
- Journalists do not own stock in companies they cover, do not take gifts beyond token hospitality, and do not accept paid travel from a company they report on. Where travel is accepted for an event, we disclose who paid.
- Journalists do not do paid work for companies in our coverage area — no consulting, no speaking fees, no advisory roles.
- Where any of this is breached or close to it, the journalist steps off the story and we note the recusal.
- Advertiser relationships are disclosed in coverage (Advertising Disclosure §16).
7. Independence from advertisers
Advertisers and sponsors see nothing before publication, approve nothing, and cannot buy coverage, a ranking position or the removal of a story.
If an advertiser asks us to kill a story, we refund the campaign rather than agree, and we may report that the request was made.
8. Rankings
- Every ranking publishes its methodology, data sources, time period and limitations alongside the result.
- Position is never for sale, and advertising status is not a variable in any methodology.
- The commercial team does not see results before publication.
- A ranked organization may contest the underlying data under the Corrections Policy. Disagreement with the methodology is not an error — though we will publish a considered objection if it is substantive.
- We say what a ranking does not measure, as plainly as what it does.
9. Use of AI
No xhealthnetwork article is written by AI. Every piece is reported, written and edited by a person who is accountable for it.
| We use AI for | We never use AI for |
|---|---|
| Transcribing interviews and earnings calls | Writing or drafting articles |
| Searching large document sets | Generating quotes, facts or figures |
| Flagging anomalies in data for a human to check | Deciding what we cover |
| Routine copy checks before a human edit | Producing images presented as photographs |
- Anything AI touches is verified by a person against the source before it appears.
- Where an illustration is AI-generated, it is labeled as such in the caption.
- If we ever publish AI-assisted writing, it will be labeled at the top of the piece. We will not do it quietly.
10. Protecting sources
We do not reveal confidential sources. We minimise what we record about them, keep journalistic material separate from business systems, and will resist demands for it to the extent the law allows. Do not send sensitive material through the website contact form — write to an editor first and we will agree a secure channel. See Privacy Policy §17.
11. Corrections and complaints
Errors are fixed under the Corrections Policy. Complaints about conduct or standards go to [email protected]. Legal complaints go to [email protected] — label them correctly and we will deal with them faster.
